For Kenney, IBD represents a combination of highly creative design principles, environmental sustainability, healthy living and knowledge sharing.
Kenney joined forces with Will at IBD in 2013, after previously studying architecture together at the University of Canberra. He has a B. Arch (2006) and B.Sc. Env Design (2004), also studying abroad to Finland in this time.
Returning to Canberra, after exploring Europe and Britain, he worked for DJAS architects for 5 years. In this commercial architecture practice Kenney gained experience across a range of projects including offices buildings, AIS training facilities and high end housing. Although the office had wonderful ‘green’ credentials, Kenney was seeking a more passive approach to sustainable building methods. Travelling and working through SE Asia and USA allowed him to witness a variety of cultures, living styles and building techniques more aligned with his interests.
Kenney brings this experience and his passion for holistic sustainable design to Integrated Bio-Tecture Design. He is particularly interested in bamboo as a building material and investigates this further with Will in their other business Lucid Space Design, creating large scale art, stages and temporary structures (see www.lucidspacedesign.com).
